Week 10

Presentation Day

The venue for the presentation day at Gemilang Hall and it started from 2.30 p.m to 5.00 p.m. During the presentation day, i was assess by Dr. Kushsairy Abdul Kadir and Madam Rohaida.

My Slide Presentation

Week 9

Present the slide to supervisor

This week i meet my supervisor to present my slide. My supervisor review my slide as well as check grammatical error. He also ask me to do a short slide but easy to understand.

Week 8

Preparation for slide presentation

Start to prepare the slide for FYP presentation in Week 10. There are seven topics that need to attach in the slide show, where are:
  • Introduction - the background of the project title
  • Problem Statement - problems that need to be solve
  • Aim and Objectives - Objectives of the project must support and achieve the aim
  • Scope and Limitation - explain general and method to be used
  • Methodology - consists of Block Diagram and Flow Chart
  • Expected Outcome
  • Progress Work - any results of the project work
The presentation slide must no be less than 8 slides and should not exceed than 15 slides. The total slides must not including front page

Week 7

Second Briefying

The  second briefing was handling by Miss Nurul Fazlin binti Roslan. There are also briefing details about the Project Proposal and Final Project Report ( Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3). The guideline are scheme of work distributed during the briefing time. Below is the guideline for the final project report (Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3)

Week 6

Study Flow of the project:

In this project, it contains both parts of hardware module and software module. For the software module, Visual Basics Studio software will be used to display voltage . Visual Basics Studio contains GUI part and programming part. On GUI part, it will show the voltage value produced and for the programming part it contains the program that's designed to run this process in Visual Basics Studio software. Besides, the programming also need in PIC microcontroller for controlling that circuit. This process includes the design program, compile the program and burn that program into PIC 16F877A . In hardware part, there is contain 4 important part, its solar panel, voltage measurement sensor, voltage regulator, PIC16F877A and max232. The solar panel will produce voltage output and voltage measurement sensor use to read the voltage output from the solar panel and send a signal output  to PIC16F877A. To send the data from PIC16F877A to visual basic software max 232 will use as an interface to connect the PIC board to a visual basic inside the computer. Visual Basic  software use to display the data from the circuit board and use to save the data every 5 minutes then store the data to Microsoft Excel to produce the result graph

Week 5

Continue Research about my project

For this week i research about component and block diagram how to develop solar monitoring system.

main component:

  • Solar Panel input 12 V
  • Voltage Regulator
  • Voltage sensor
  • PIC 16F877A
  • Max232

Week 4

Objective of this project

  •   Build a system can monitor 3 unit solar panels
  •  Record the data of voltage produced from solar panel to Microsoft Excell
  •  Use the voltage data for make analysis for future planning usage of electrical energy

Why develop solar monitoring system

Many people invent  products that use solar energy as a tool to get electricity. Such as street lamp , mobile phone charger and many more. But they do not know whether the energy received stable or not. For example, when we use light that the electricity from solar the result we get is the light is not bright like  using electricity produced by Tenaga Nasional Berhad,  its because energy that we  received on a solar panel is not sufficient cause  of weather  problem or the position of the solar panel towards the sun inappropriate. So I want to produce a solar monitoring system are Using visual basic to make the people easier to analysis whether the power from solar is stable or not .

Week 3

Project Research

In week 3 i do a research about this project. I study how the solar will generate the electricity.

how solar panel generate electricity

Solar panels are constructed from a semi-conductive material with the most common material of choice being silicon. The semi-conductive material contains electrons which will naturally just stay there not doing anything. When photons (contained within the suns rays) hit a solar cell, the electrons contained in the solar cell material absorb this solar energy, which transforms the electrons into conduction electrons. If the energy of these photons is great enough then the electrons are able to become free and carry an electric charge through a circuit to the destination.

Week 2

Tittle : Development solar Monitoring System Using Visual Basic

The tittle and project is given by my supervisor. They ask me to develop a prototype of  solar monitoring system that using visual basic software. The idea is we have 3 panel solar and its connect to a circuit board that have a voltage sensor and after that voltage output from solar panel is read by voltage sensor and a result is  appear at computer using visual basic studio. after that the result will store at Microsoft Excell every 5 minute and we plot the graph. This idea of the project is to build a system can monitor 3 unit solar panel and use the data to make analysis for future planning.

Week 1

Thursday 17 January 2013

Week 1
Briefying FYP at TTL.

Presenter : 1) Dr Kushsairy Abdul Kadir
                 2) Sir Shamsul  Zaharin Bin Shahidin

The briefying is about to choose a supervisor for final year project 2013 and choose the project tittle. They also present about progress report ( Log book/Blog).

Supervisor and project tittle

For the supervisor i choose En Saharuddin bin Othman to guide me to do my final year project. Mr Saharuddin is from electrical department. Mr Saharuddin ask me to find a project that qualify for degree level. He give me a time to think and he ask me to submit a proposal about my project.
